dc.description.abstract The films of polymer (polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)) pure and doped with copper salts with different concentrations (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10) wt% have been prepared by using casting technique. The optical and thermal properties of pure and doped films with copper salts of polymer (polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)) are studied. The transmission and absorption spectra have been recorded in the wavelength range (300-1100) nm. The effect of copper salts concentration on the optical parameters such as transmittance, absorbance, absorption coefficient, refractive index, extinction coefficient and real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant for (PVA-copper salts) films are studied also. The experimental results for (PVA-copper salts) films show that the transmittance decreases with increasing the filler content while the absorbance increases with increasing the filler content. The absorption coefficient, refractive index, extinction coefficient and real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant are found to increase with increasing the filler content. Moreover, the results show that the allowed indirect transitions energy gap (Eg) decreases with increasing the filler content. Abstract Also the effect of copper salts concentration on the thermal properties for (PVA- copper salts) films have been investigated. The experimental results for (PVA-copper salts) films show that the thermal conductivity decreases with increasing the filler content. The effect of annealing on the optical properties for (PVA- CuCl) films with different concentrations (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10) wt% of copper chloride salt shows that the transmittance decreases after annealing and the absorbance increases after annealing for all the films. The absorption coefficient, refractive index, extinction coefficient, real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant are found to increase after annealing for all the films. The energy gap (Eg) decreases after annealing all the films. en_US
