Abstract: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the effect of mange infestation on the chrome tanned leathers of the native goat. For the 1st time in Iraq. It has been conducted by purchasing a number of mange infected hides from AL-Shu'ala abattoir and some scattered private farms in al-shuala Baghdad. The gross examination study of chrome tanned leather of goat revealed Disturbance in the granular surface of the leather and roughness of the granular layer. Severe destruction in the dermis and epidermis layers were also seen, which causes malformation and decrease in leather's surface quality. The histopathological examination of the affected leather with mange mites revealed: thickness of the layers, acanthosis, hyperkeratosis and sever infiltration of inflammatory cell in both dermis and epidermis.
